Abstract

Mathematics learning at the junior high school (SMP) level still faces various challenges, especially in developing teaching materials that are able to connect mathematical concepts with students' real experiences. The teaching modules used in learning are often still oriented towards the delivery of material and practice questions, so they have not fully provided space for students to build understanding through contextual activities, discussions, collaborations, and problem-solving. This mentoring activity aims to assist teachers in developing mathematics teaching modules based on a collaborative learning model with a Realistic Mathematics Education (PMR) approach. The PMR approach is used to present mathematical problems that are close to students' lives, while the collaborative model is directed to increase student involvement in the knowledge construction process through group work and interaction between students. Activities are carried out through several stages, namely needs analysis, providing conceptual understanding, module preparation workshops, device development assistance, module review and revision, and reflection and evaluation. The results of the activity show that mentoring can increase teachers' understanding of the characteristics of PMR-based teaching modules and collaborative learning. Teachers are also able to develop modules that contain real context, exploration activities, group discussions, problem-solving strategies, reflections, and assessments that are in accordance with learning objectives. The development of these modules is expected to support the creation of more meaningful, active, contextual, and student-centered mathematics learning.
