Abstract

Local-based barista training holds strategic value in supporting community-based homestay development. This program aimed to enhance technical competence and local wisdom awareness through hands-on practice in preparing Mont Blanc using local coffee and lemon. The training method consisted of three stages: explanation, demonstration, and direct practice, involving 15 young local participants. Evaluation results indicated a 53.2% increase in knowledge and a 50.5% improvement in practical skills. Moreover, participants’ ability to explain the local value of the product rose from 20.0% to 73.3%. These findings highlight that practice-based training is effective in building hospitality skills while strengthening the local identity of homestays. The program demonstrates that empowering young communities through creative beverage innovation can contribute to sustainable tourism development.
